Knit Yourself Calm - Absolute Beginners Knitting Course - 6 weeks

Join us for our absolute beginners 6 week knitting course here at The Knit Lounge! The course will take you gently through a series of stitches and techniques that build square by square, week by week into a beautiful blanket. There's also an option for a cushion if you want a smaller project. You will learn how to read a pattern, cast on, knit, purl, work ribbing, stripes, cables, picking up stitches, increasing and decreasing, casting off, sewing up, finishing and so much more! 

The course will run for 6 weeks on Wednesday evenings at 7pm (dates outlined below) Each session is 2 hours and there will be time between each class to practice and complete your homework! (Homework is not essential but to get the most out of the course and to complete your blanket in the 6 weeks we do recommend it)

Dates and class contents:

8th January - The Garter Stitch Square

15th January - The Stockinette Square

22nd January - The Moss Stitch Square

29th January - The Striped Square

5th February - The Cable Square

19th February - The Border and Finishing 

Our sample blanket squares were knit with Rowan Superwash Worsted and we used a 4.5mm needle. Superwash Worsted is a great yarn that's 100% wool and machine washable. It comes in 24 colours and you are welcome to pre-order this with us with a 10% discount. You will need 5-6 balls in 3 colours to make the full blanket. You can of course use any worsted or aran weight yarn you like.

The sample blanket used the following amounts of Rowan Superwash Worsted:

Soft Cream (cream) x 2 balls

Moonstone (light grey) x 2 balls

Granite (dark grey) x 1 ball

Tea, coffee and refreshments will be provided and you will also get a 10% discount on anything you buy in store on the evening of your classes. Please feel free to email or phone the shop with any questions.
