Our in person Learn to Knit in the Round workshop takes place on Saturday 24th October from 10.30am till 1pm.
Ready to take your knitting beyond working flat? Join Kathy at The Knit Lounge and make this cozy, chunky stiped snood. The soft, chunky wool and printed pattern to make your snood is included in the class price and there will be a range of colours to choose from.
In this friendly, practical class, you’ll learn how to knit confidently in the round on circular needles and create beautiful stripes without that annoying little “jog” where your stripes and rounds meet.
Skill level: Beginner. You should already be comfortable casting on and working knit and purl stitches.
We’ll cover how to join your knitting in the round without twisting, how to keep track of the beginning of your round, changing colours neatly, carrying yarn between stripes, and techniques for creating smooth, jogless stripes.
This is a great next-step class if you’re comfortable with the basic knit and purl stitches and would like to build your confidence with circular knitting and colour.
You’ll learn:
- How to join your knitting in the round
- How to avoid accidentally twisting your stitches
- Using stitch markers and keeping track of your rounds
- How to change colours neatly
- How to create jogless stripes
- Tips for carrying yarn (less ends to sew in!) and finishing
What you need to bring:
- 7mm circular needles that are 50 - 60cm in length
By the end of the class, you’ll have covered all the techniques needed to finish your snood in your own time at home.
