Collection: Sandnes Garn

Sandnes Garn is the largest manufacturer of hand-knitting yarn in Northern Europe, equipped with one of the world's most modern spinning mills in one of the oldest factories in Norway that is still producing.

In 1888, Sandnes Uldvarefabrik was founded, and a red brick factory was erected in a place of honor, in the middle of Sandnes, in the middle of Vågen. The factory was a witness to the industrial revolution before it burned down in 1978, and was rebuilt between hills and mountains outside the city. There have been several ownerships and several name changes, until we got our current name, which also reflects that it is no longer only wool that goes through our spinning mill and out into the world.

More About Sandnes Garn

Sandnes Garn contributes a great deal to the joy of knitting with the 14 million skeins that leave the factory each year and head out into the world. When the popular yarn types Sandnes Garn Peer Gynt and Fritidsgarn are picked up in a store in Oslo, Uppsala, Århus, Helsinki, Reykjavík, New York, Montreal or Tórshavn, they have made the journey from Norwegian sheep via washing, carding, spinning, twisting, reeling, dyeing and skeining at the factory.

Everyone who is involved in creating the yarn, animals and people, is cared for in the best possible way, according to strict welfare standards and general requirements for well-being – and comfort.

The 100% Norwegian wools used across much of the range ensure you can knit garments that will stand the test of time, from being strong and durable as well as pill-resistent and rarely needing to be washed.

For those who have trouble with wool, the Sandnes Garn Line range is the perfect alternative. Seamlessly blending cotton, viscose and linen, the lightweight and breathable yarn is perfect all year round.
