Summer Shawl-along | Pressed Flowers

The Pressed Flower Shawl is iconic; it brought the style of mosaic knitting to our attention when it was released, and it’s been on the 'to make' list for a long time. I just love it,  and thought it would be the perfect project for The Knit Lounge’s first shawl-along!  

The shawl pattern gives you endless yarn possibilities to make one that is personalised and truly your own, and through this fully guided knit-a-long with weekly video calls and technique demos, you will learn all you need to make your perfect Pressed Flower Shawl. 

What is a shawl-along?

A shawl-along is a group of people knitting the same shawl pattern at the same time and learning together as part of a community. You can feel free to add your own modifications but we will all be using the same base pattern. This shawl-along is fully guided so there will be demos and tutorials as well as lots of general yarn advice. The shawl-along is online only so you can join from anywhere in the world!

The Pressed Flower Shawl details 

This beautiful pattern is Pressed Flowers Shawl by Amy Christoffers. This is an all over mosaic design which uses slipped stitches to create this floral pattern. The shawl is a generous size and would be perfect for chilly evenings. You can buy the pattern from Ravelry or pop in-store and we can purchase and print for you! You must buy your own copy of the pattern to join the shawl-along. 

This shawl-along will include demos for: 

• Provisional cast on 

• Reading mosaic charts

• Mosaic knitting 

• Kitchener stitch 

I will also be answering any questions you may have in the video call sessions.

What time?

The KAL will 'officially' start on the 27th June and will run for 4 weeks. Feel free to swatch or pick yarn before the first session but if you are feeling unsure we will chat about yarn choices and combos in the first session. You might get inspired by other peoples colours and it's always really fun to see everyone's plans. The weekly video call will be on Fridays at 8pm. The dates of the video meet-ups are:

27th June, 4th July, 11thJuly, 18th July

You can knit at any pace you like. There is no schedule or deadlines. There is no pressure to finish when the KAL does. 

What are the details?

• We are setting up a shawl-a-long Instagram group chat where everyone is welcome to share ideas, tips and tricks, yarn choices and to ask any questions. 

• If there is a technique or problem you are having you can ask there and I will answer and/or demo in the next video call.  

• The full cost of the Shawl-Along is redeemable against your yarn/ needles purchase so the teaching and video calls and are technically totally free! 

• Once you sign up you will receive an email with a unique coupon code that you can use to purchase your materials. 

• You will also get a link to the video calls and a list of suggested yarn options (which for this pattern are pretty endless!) 

Please Note: The coupon code can only be used once and must be used in one single transaction, i.e. spend the whole thing in one go! Any remaining balance cannot be saved. Coupons are only valid on yarn and/or knitting needles.

Anything else?
